“Sicko,” Michael Moore’s devastating indictment of the health insurance and pharmaceutical industries, is coming to a theater near you June 29th.  The film is playing to packed houses in early release and promises to be a huge popular and political hit. 

This event may be our best opportunity to galvanize American public opinion in favor of universal health care.  It's also a unique moment to promote our own Pennsylvania solution, the Family And Business Health Security Act Of 2007, currently in the legislature as HB1660 and sb400.  These bills guarantee comprehensive universal single-payer health care for every man, woman, and child in the state.  Even now, its sponsors are moving it through the legislature in Harrisburg.  With your help, we can make this Act law.   

To that end, we've made a simple downloadable kit to amplify the film's message.  We need you, your friends and neighbors to spread the word by gathering outside theaters showing “Sicko” and educating movie-goers as they exit.  Have them sign our petition urging members of the state legislature to support the Family And Business Health Security Act.  Hand them a packet with information on the bill, the only proposed legislation that covers all Pennsylvanians.  Leave them with one of our contribution forms so we can more effectively leverage our lobbying drive. 

Encourage everyone to circulate the petition on their own.  Get local: ask groups in your community to take part in this important effort.  If we're going to win universal health care, our representatives in Harrisburg have to get a clear message of public support for the Act.  With your help Pennsylvania will lead the way to real health care fairness in America.
