About HealthCare 4 All PA Education Fund
MISSION
The name of this organization shall be HEALTHCARE 4 ALL PA EDUCATION FUND. HealthCare 4 All PA Education Fund was established in 2005 to provide credible and timely information about health care access to a broad constituency and execute research to inform a debate about health care access in Pennsylvania.
GOALS
The goals of the HealthCare 4 All PA Education Fund:
1. To publicize findings, and convene town hall meetings pertaining to access to health care services in Pennsylvania.
2. To gather and disseminate information about the status of health care in the state and across the country.
3. To inform the public about efforts to achieve universal quality health care coverage for all.
4. To educate leaders and consumer populations of Pennsylvania of the social, cultural and economic impacts of alternative health care delivery systems.
BOARD OF DIRECTORS
PRESIDENT - SCOTT TYSON, MD, President and owner of Pediatrics South. Dr. Tyson is a fulltime practicing pediatrician, a full time business owner with over 70 employees in Southwestern Pennsylvania. Together with his significant other, he owns Specter Studios as well. He is in the trenches of the health care crisis every hour of every day, as a provider, and as a business owner. Dr. Tyson is one of the Founders of Healthcare4AllPA Education Fund, PUSH, and Healthcare4AllPA. Dr. Tyson is a member of Physicians for a National Healthcare Plan.
VICE-PRESIDENT - LANI FRANK, is a business owner from Southeastern Pennsylvania. For many years, Lani has advocated and educated for women’s health rights. As a small business owner, she faces the crisis of healthcare employer provided coverage every day. She is a strong advocate of universal healthcare coverage, equitable, affordable, and comprehensive.
SECRETARY - THERESA CHALICH, RN, A Public Health Care Nurse, and Non-Profit Administrator to the Homeless, Theresa has been a long time co-founder and volunteer of Pennsylvania United for Single Payer Health Care, and Healthcare4AllPA Education Fund. She has publicly spoken for Single Payer in Allegheny County and across Pennsylvania. Theresa has served as a liaison and representative of HC4ALLPA to many progressive health, hospital and community organizations.
TREASURER - JOHN STEVEN, ESQ. John is a practicing attorney, licensed in Pennsylvania, who has been a volunteer from the inception of PUSH and Healthcare4AllPA Education Fund. A resident of Pittsburgh in Allegheny County, John is acutely aware of both the fiscal crisis and savings that a publicly financed and privately provided healthcare system would allow as well as the moral imperative as he witnesses the number of people in Allegheny County who have lost homes, gone bankrupt and become homeless because of the immorally high cost of medical and hospital bills.
TODD CLARK, Former Sergeant, Desert Storm Veteran, Employee of Veterans Hospital, Pittsburgh, Highland Drive.
GERALD THOMAS, PHD, Professor, Slippery Rock State University. Director of Research on Board.
CHRIS CATATFAMO, Indiana County NAACP Former President , Indiana County Universal Unitarians Member.
CHUCK MCCALLOUGH, Allegheny County Council Member
ACTING EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR - MARY PAT DONEGAN, PHD, LM, Dr. Donegan worked in the fields of Mental Health and Drug and Alcohol Treatment for over 35 years. She co-founded the non-profit Pennsylvania Organization for Women in Early Recovery (POWER House) in 1989. She was a consultant for SAMHSA and the National Clearing House of Health and Human Service Information on Women and Youth and Recovery. She is a member of the American Counseling Association, is an ordained lay minister in the Episcopal Diocese of Pittsburgh at a nursing home, and serving as a counselor. She believes that comprehensive, affordable, equitable healthcare for every resident of PA is a moral imperative. She speaks, educates and represents HC4ALL PA Ed Fund locally, state-wide and nationally.
