12 Days of Single-Payer Lobbying (Day #5):
"Healthcare for the Holidays"
(click

The State House spent much of this week going
bonkers over the gun control issue (walkouts, threats, bitter
partisanship and factionalization) and it looks like the Governor
has halted his effort to push temporary MCare funding into the
broken Medical-Industrial-Complex.
Therefore, the door has never been more open than now to the
"Family and Business Healthcare Security Act" (HB
1660 and SB 300). Our "baggage-less" citizen lobbying campaign
for single-payer universal healthcare -- where we focus on funding
healthcare, not insurance and pharmaceutical industry profits -- is
a most welcome conversation among Members (Rs and Ds) and their
Support Staff.
Hope to see you 10:45 am Monday and Wednesday, the 10th and 12th, in
the Capitol cafeteria. But if you can't make it to Harrisburg make
sure that you visit your Member's local district office (assuming
you haven't already done so). Again, tell your Member we want them
to sign on as a co-sponsor of HB 1660 or SB 300.
By way of update: Wednesday's tentatively planned press
conference/rally in the Rotunda has been preempted by the Christmas
tree lighting activities that day. We are instead planning a date
for January (to be announced).
Should you join us for lobbying on Wednesday, you are also more than
welcome to attend our monthly board meeting beginning at 1 pm. Call
me in advance so that we may get a head count and I can give you
directions.
Keep up the terrific work! We've made tremendous strides over the
first five days of our 12-day lobby campaign.
Best,

Chuck Pennacchio
